Avonlea, SK - On Saturday, October 18th, the Avonlea Memorial Rink held their third annual Craft and Trade Show at the rink. Twenty tables of exhibitors had a little something for everyone, and it was nice to see some new exhibitors along with repeat ones from the past two years. Exhibitors came from Coronach, Regina, Rouleau, Wolesley, and Yellow Grass, as well as Ormiston, and Truax, and of course Avonlea.
There were craft tables of beaded ornaments, floral arrangements, and cedar birdhouses. Health and beauty products of different kinds were available, and there was also clothing and accessories at a few tables. These were just a few of the things that you could look at during the show.
Remo Forer of Avonlea had a table of his stone and ironwork items, such as geese, snakes, and other whimsical decorations, and he donated his proceeds for the day to the rink.
As always, the Rec Boards bounce house was a big attraction to the small children, and a few that may have been past the size for bouncing with the smaller ones. It kept the little guys busy while their parents shopped
The Radius Credit Union sponsored the coffee for the day and served the exhibitors coffee and doughnuts. There were several door prizes for the day by exhibitors from the different booths, and those attending seemed happy with the deals that they found. The number of tables at the show were down compared to last year, but this was due mainly to the fact that this is the season, and people cant be everywhere at once.
Of course, this event could not have been made possible without the help of several volunteers who organized and worked throughout the day. They are the back bone of events like these throughout the year and are often overlooked, but always chipping in to make days like this a success.
