Milestone -
The Milestone 4-H Beef Club were invited by Dr. Andy Acton of the Deep South Animal Clinic, on January 30th, to visit the clinic for a demonstration on a beef animals digestive system. Dr. Acton explained to the 4-H'ers how a cow digests their food by using the four stomachs that they have.
The hands-on experience with Molly the cow and seeing what composes a cow's stomach fluids under the microscope was fantastic.
Dr. Acton also showed us his ultrasound machine used to see unborn calves in the womb. The special glasses to see the ultrasound calf was a hit with the 4-H'ers.
The Milestone Beef Club members enjoyed this new experience and would like to thank Dr. Acton as well as his assistant Sarah for a wonderful afternoon at the clinic.
