The very first thing you noticed, while driving up to the Open House for Taylor Ridge Distributor's Ltd., held on Saurday, May 16th, in Avonlea, was the comfortable looking outdoor furniture that was stained a beautiful amber color. As you walked up to the area, prospective customers sat in small furniture groupings, enjoying the day and lost in conversation as they sat in swings, gliders and rockers. Twenty minutes after arriving, I had sat in three such groupings and had picked one of the rockers as my favorite, not in a hurry anymore, and perfectly content to stay for awhile. The only problem was, everyone else felt the same way, and several customers had decided it was time to go home and take their new comfy spots with them!
Taylor Ridge Distributors Ltd. of Avonlea, SK is owned and operated by sisters, Karen Geraniums and Katey Taylor, along with their parents Janis and Arthur Daniel. They started the business in 2009 with the hopes of encouraging, both business in Avonlea and to distributing unique home dÉcor products from other women-owned businesses. And just as an example of this, throughout the furniture was beautiful geraniums gracing the tables, graciously on loan from Liz's Greenhouse, just down the street, where several customers visited on the way home.
The name Taylor Ridge Distributors Ltd. is part of Daniel family history. In 1870 Peter Daniel moved to the United States from Germany where he settled in Taylor Ridge, IL. In 1904, Peter and his family moved to the Avonlea, SK area and then in 1912 Peter and his wife Christina built one of the first homes in Avonlea. Karen and Katey are the great-great granddaughters of Peter and Christina Daniel.
The furniture that they sell and distribute is from the American company, Moon Valley Rustic Furniture, which was established in 1928, and prides itself in manufacturing the highest quality of log furniture available in the States and Canada. They are the only furniture manufacturer that utilizes the unique hand cut contoured seating that makes them both very durable and extremely comfortable. The sturdy dowelled construction is of cedar and ponderosa pine, and there is various styles in children sizes as well.
Taylor Ridge Distributors will be dealers of this fine quality furniture here in Avonlea, and be distributors of it for dealers as well.
