Avonlea - During the week of August 18th to 22nd over 60 children took part in Avonlea's Daily Vacation Bible School - Power Lab Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power.
This week welcomed children aged 3-12 to learn some really catchy songs with the help of Kimberly Wagner. Daily crafts took place in the "Wacky Work Shop" led by Kim Sippola. Test tube treats served by Coralee Robertson, kept energy levels high, and everyone enjoyed the hyper speed games and outside activities organized by Jeff Robertson.
Each day the kids received a daily bible story from the zany Scottish Professor Haggis. Along with Professor Haggis, the kids got to meet some cartoon characters throughout the week. Fizz, Sparky, Dewd, Max, and Electra, taught the children that Jesus gives the power to be thankful, help others, be brave, live forever, and tell others about God.
It was evident how much the children enjoy this week every summer, when you attended the final evening. They were all full of smiles and funny comments, as they put on a short program for parents and community members.
It will be interesting to see what the theme is next year for the group of dedicated volunteers, and if you would like to be put on next year's list of helpers, give Jeff Robertson a call.
Jeff and his wife Coralee have been instrumental in the week for the last three summers.
