Fall Fair in Minton

Minton-Gladmar - The 21st Annual Minton-Gladmar Fall Fair held on September 27, 2008, was once again a huge success. Seventy-five people participated with 416 entries. This year's winners of the classes were:
Class A Cereal Grain had no entries this year.
Class B Roots, Vegetables and Fruit-Lynda Blackstock
Class C Needlework-Lisa Blackstock
Class D Sewing, Sewing Crafts and Quilting-Joan Kelln,
Class E Preserves- Lynda Blackstock
Class F Plants, Flowers and Dried Arrangements-Lynda Blackstock
Class G Art and Photography-Carla Froshaug
Glass H Baking-Jean Hlavka
Class I Handiwork, Arts and Baking Grade 6 and under-Alyson Hlavka
Class J Adult Wood and Metal Craft-Ted Fladeland
Class K Adult Hobby Crafts-Bev Marsh, Dawna Watson, Warren Blackstock
Grand Aggregate Winner-Lynda Blackstock
Largest pumpkin was entered by Jolynn and John Hlavka.
The Teddy Bear Clinic conducted by Judy DeRoose, Kim Frischholz and Tanya Meyers was well attended and all the teddies in the community have now been treated and are feeling better.
The children were kept entertained throughout the day with rides on the quad train provided by Dale Ehrhardt, kids games, the antics of Boinky the Clown, and rope-making with Albert Hanson. An exhibit of llamas was displayed by Edith Scholz. The highlight of the afternoon was a children's tractor pull with 20 girls and 10 boys up to 9 years old competing.
The craft sale featuring nineteen exhibitors was a huge success again.
Interesting collections of arrowheads and tomahawks of Tom Paul, Brad LaBatte and Corey Pettersen were on display as well.
The afternoon performances of Lexie Tytlandsvik, Karrisa Hoffart, Boinky the Clown, and the Belly Dancers were fantastic.
A lively auction of items donated by exhibitors was conducted by Farron Ward. Thanks to everyone who donated and purchased items.
The day concluded with a family dance with music provided by DJ Garry Robertson.
The Fall Fair Committee would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make the 2008 Fall Fair Day a success again this year. Next year's Fall Fair will be on September 26, 2009. See you then.
