Gladmar, SK -
This year a drama class was added to the Gladmar High School Curriculum to give students a break from academics and to provide students with a credit. The class chose to present a play to learn the various aspects of the course.
On April 6th and 8th, the class presented "Illinois Jane and the Pyramid of Peril" as their major project for the class. This play is a spoof of the hero, Indiana Jones and his many adventures. Although there were only eight acting roles, the rest of the class were kept busy, painting, designing sets, assembling props and costumes, prompting, and baking desserts.
The cast consisted of eight students: Kelsey Rude played Illinois Jane; Jarrett Hoffart played Sid Knickerbock; Dane Thue played the villainous, Pierre Le Malodeur; Rachelle Axten played the French mime; Jared Hoimyr played Thaddeus Jane; Kimberly Hoimyr played the role of henchman, Claude; Nick Tatarliov played Tin Toe Terry; and Isaac Woitas played Captian Nobeard.
Derek Rude and Adam Szmigielski were in charge of the sound system, microphones and sound effects. Special effects department consisted of Evan Overbye, Ethan Woitas, Sorren Thue, and Isaac Woitas. Kendra Wick was in charge of the curtains while Ryan LaBatte and Daylene LaCoste were prompters for the play.
Teleana Hutt, Kendra Wick, Vanessa Thue, Daylene LaCoste, Evan Oberbye, Ethan Woitas, and Sorren Thue worked as stage crew, set design, and prop design. The artwork for the posters, program, and bulletin board was done by Kimberly Hoimyr. Mrs. Roberta Hoimyr directed the play.
The school is proud to report that the new sound system, which was purchased in the fall by the School Community Council and donations from various community organizations, has improved the sound quality in the gym. Thank you to Rose Overbye for organizing the desserts that were served between scenes.
Jayden McHattie, Laurae Anderson, and Kayla Nyhus baked the brownies for the brownie sundaes. Thank you to Randy Hoimyr and Warren Blackstock for helping to setup the backdrop.
