Radville -
The 22nd Minton-Gladmar Annual Fall Fair will be held on September 26, 2009. A fun-filled day has been planned again this year.
You can start your day at the Bordertown Saloon at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast after you drop off your entries. All exhibits must be tagged and dropped off at the hall before 9:00 a.m. Any entries being donated for the auction must be marked with "A". The exhibits will be open for viewing at 11:30 a.m. Once again there are many contests you can enter: largest pumpkin, vegetable or fruit creations, largest and most unusual vegetable and a duct tape contest. Check the Fall Fair Booklet for a complete description of exhibit classes and for a list of the various contests. The booklets are available at the post offices in Minton, Gladmar, Lake Alma and Beaubier, or phone Emily Zyla at 969-4600 or Sharon Hibbard at 969-4620. Last year there were 75 people who participated with 416 entries in the various classes. Entries from other communities are welcome. Phone one of the class directors listed in the booklet to register your entries or give Emily or Sharon a call.
The annual craft sale will be held at Hibbard Equipment from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with many vendors displaying and selling high quality crafts, paintings, and food. Collections of various items will be on display at the Friendship Centre throughout the day. Many children's activities including the barrel train ride, rope making, bouncy house, will be taking place all day. You can try your hand at the mini-golf that will be set up for all to play. SGI will be attending with the Traffic Safety Wheel. Stop by their display and test your knowledge of safety and win prizes for correct answers.
This year's afternoon entertainment at the hall will feature many talented youth performing a variety of musical acts. Classic cars will be on display on Main Street. The ever-popular children's tractor pull will once again be held. The afternoon will conclude with a Cowboy Olympics competition. Enter your team of 2 for this fun-filled and challenging contest. Then you can enjoy a Kentucky Fried Chicken meal at Hibbard's from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Awards will be presented at the hall at 7:00 p.m., followed by the auction of donated items. A family dance with music by DJ Gary Robertson will conclude the day. Come and join us for a great day in Minton on September 26th.
