Briercrest -
On Monday, December 28th, the Briercrest 4-H Multi Club held their second annual self esteem workshop for girls of all ages. Our 4-H club is interested in teaching young people to be the best they can be and provide opportunities for the members of this club to learn new leadership qualities and skills. We brought in two youth counselors, Miss Maegan Nestman and Miss Amber Schick to run several sessions during the evening. Their sessions were about building your confidence, learning more about yourself and getting along with others. We also learned about better body image, and how the media tries to manipulate their viewers.
The night began with a discussion on the media and a video from Dove's campaign for real beauty, it was very interesting and we learned that we should all be very careful consumers. We moved on to discuss our interests, what makes us special and how to communicate effectively. We had a wonderful snack time and the night ended with a movie and sleep over in the Briercrest community center.
We would like to thank all who helped us put together such a meaningful night, the Briercrest Library for providing us with their projector and their space. We would also like to thank our sponsors who made this possible, Mid Prairie Body Center, Beitels Insurance, Briercrest Grain Ltd., Flash Welding, C & D Welding and Repair, Robbin Schick from Investors Group.
