The organizing committee for Ogema’s 100th Anniversary Celebration held their monthly meeting in the Town Library on Thursday, April 19, 2012, with chair Wayne Myren calling the business meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Minutes from the March meeting were read and accepted as amended.
Samples of a number of souvenirs were passed around the table for the committee members to look at and decide what type of souvenir they wanted to order. After a discussion it was decided to go with pins of the train station and the water tower; possibly a glass Christmas ornament and mittens, further information will be gathered on these items. Golf shirts will be ordered for the 100th organizing committee members as well as looking into security vests for the security crew.
The Chautauqua and fashion show are progressing slowly and Cindy Horner is waiting for a few more confirmations regarding the Chautauqua. Marilyn Mead is taking care of arranging the fashion show.
The Antique Classic car show will be here for the day and will be located on Main Street following the annual parade. Ogema School students are looking after arranging a ‘flash mob’ with Stephanie and Katie Bacon assisting. Discussion on what items we would like to see go inside a ‘Time Capsule’ resulted in numerous suggestions to be given to Valerie Dunn, Ogema Librarian. The wrist bands for the weekend have been ordered and the historic plates for the self-guided tour will be ordered immediately so they will be ready for our celebration.
A discussion on changes to the posters resulted in a few minor details be either changed or deleted. The posters will be ready to go to the printers later this coming week and will hopefully be ready for distribution in early May.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 7:30 p.m.
