The Ogema Agricultural Society held their monthly meeting in the Town Library on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 with ten members present. President Brad Dunn called the meeting to order with the reading of the May minutes which were accepted as read. Business arising from the minutes dealt with the hiring of a band for the parade and a concert; the agricultural sign and the afternoon entertainment.
Kids Korner is ready to go with the booking of ‘Funtazm Entertainment’.
Marilyn Mead, kitchen coordinator reported that she had every thing under control for the kitchen. They will be serving a cold plate; taco-in-a-bag and subs. The kitchen will open at eleven in the morning and close at 5:30 p.m. so as to let the supper caterers get ready for the six o’clock supper. She announced that Michelle Johner had volunteered to be on the kitchen committee.
Bev McCabe, domestic arts coordinator reported that she had one judge in place and is still looking for two more.
The poster advertising the Ogema 100th anniversary celebration was passed around.
President Dunn mentioned that he had been approached by the Ogema Regional Park Board regarding the installation of under-ground power from the Ogema Complex to the Ogema Grandstand. It was moved that the Agricultural Society be willing to pay a portion of the bill for installation.
Fair books have been placed in all the business places around town with entry tags available at Ogema Agencies. Ogema Agencies will also accept memberships.
President Dunn will be getting sponsorships for the horse pull and the barrel racing. Anyone interested in sponsoring give Dunn a call at 459-2523.
A report from the parade marshal said that to date she has four entries with one being given at the meeting. Anyone planning a float entry for the Centennial Parade please get the information to parade marshal, Ella Frank before June 23, 2012. Meeting adjourned.
