The “Canadian Pickers” were in Avonlea, April 19th, to visit Wally Nelson and to check out his wares in the Weekend Antiques store and storage shed. The pair looks for old memorabilia; Shell Service Station items for example, and Coca Cola items.
Scott and Sheldon have their own business buying and selling antiques. They liked the Buffalo oil tins and purchased them along with other antiques that were in very good shape. Buffalo oil was in business back in the early 1900’s.
When the rain stopped, the film crew was able to shoot videos of the Canadian Pickers trying to buy some of Wally’s wares. They all joined in lunch at the Golf Club House.
Town residents are interested in the video and I was told it will be shown this fall when the show starts up again on the History or Discovery Channel.
