A by-election for the Town of Oxbow was held Wednesday, Dec. 14 to elect a new councillor. Dale Ching, a retired educator, received 71 votes and Mark Barnes, Realtor, garnered 56. Only four ratepayers voted at the advance poll. The position is a one-year term. The regular municipal election will be held next fall, and will be a four-year term. Other members of council are: Mayor Doug Pierce, Ald. Judy Swanson, Ald. Eldon Thompson, Ald. Cory Mercer, Ald. Bob Goodward and Ald. Cam Rutledge. The number of voters was down from the last by-election in Nov. 2008 when 197 people voted. At the regular election held in November 2009, three hundred and twenty-three people cast ballots.
