Radville - Sun Country Regional Health Authority welcomes the Saskatchewan government's decision to replace three long term care facilities in the South East.
"We are extremely pleased to learn that funding will be provided to accelerate replacement of Radville Marian Health Centre, Redvers Health Centre and an integrated facility for Willowdale Lodge in Kipling," said Cal Tant, President and CEO of Sun Country Regional Health Authority.
"Planning will begin in the very near future to use these additional dollars and replace these facilities," he said.
"We expect the staff and the residents of these communities will be very happy about the government's willingness to speed up the plans. We will be contacting the community health foundations as soon as possible to discuss their involvement in the funding of these new facilities," he said.
Health Minister Don McMorris made the announcement earlier today at a news conference in Regina. The facilities will be built from a new, $150 million provincial facilities fund, with the usual 65 per cent-35 per cent cost-sharing between the provincial government and the local communities.
"This funding means that high-priority capital projects will move ahead more quickly than anticipated. Ensuring that our health facilities are up to date and meeting today's building standards is incredibly important to ensure the safety and comfort of residents and health care providers," said Mr. Tant.
