Avonlea - On August 23rd, Kristen Watson cut her long hair off and donated it to Locks of Love, after she raised over $7,600 for cancer. A volunteer for the Alan Blair Cancer Clinic, Kristen saw the need for chemo chairs after the center underwent renovations and expansion.
There was room for an additional six chairs, and so at the cost of $1,800 each, she set her goal at $9,600. Although she did not reach her goal at the end, Kristen did an amazing job and presented the cancer clinic with $7,684.
Kristen raised $3,812 and through the generosity of Team Scotia through Scotiabank, her funds were matched. She was still receiving donations right up until the day the money was presented and was overwhelmed with the support she received and how close she came to her ambitious goal.
"Words cannot express how grateful I am. It is because of you that the cancer centre is able to purchase new chemo chairs. Thank you to each and every person who made a donation."
