Radville - The Radville Roadside Rockets held a "Golfing for the Cure" tournament on Saturday, September 13th at the Robertdale Golf Course.
Even though the day was wet and windy forty-four golfers showed up to participate in the Mixed Open Texas Scramble Tourney. As the day wore on, the weather did improve somewhat but regardless, everyone had a good time. At the end of the day there were presentations given for: Men's longest drive - Chris O'Byrne, Ladies longest drive - Nancy Labbie, Longest Putt - Jen Bellavance, Closest approach - Bob Galarneau.
At the end of the day when all was said and done, everybody was fed and watered and there was $1800.00 to support breast cancer research.
In addition to the golf tourney The Rockets also raised an additional $495 from an afghan raffle that was made and donated by Joan Thue. The lucky winner of the afghan, which was made with the pink ribbon symbol for Breast Cancer awareness, was Linda Bolton.
The Roadside Rockets would once again like to thank all their sponsors who were mentioned in last week's paper, as well as the Radius Credit Union who was mistakenly omitted originally. Without the generosity of the sponsors the success of the tournament would not have been what it was.
