Radville -
The island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands was the meeting place for 8 members of the Radville Class of 71 and their spouses. Graham Stevens and his wife, Jan live and work in Tenerife and were hosts for the week long gathering from January 30th to February 6th, 2009.
Graham lived in Radville from 1963-1968. His father, Doug Stevens operated the Liquor Store and his mother Maisie, taught a kindergarten class in Radville for those years. Although Graham left Radville before 1971, he has attended most of the Class of 1971 reunions in Radville in the past years.
Graham had organized many activities for the week, including ten pin bowling where Ray Riviere and Mara Barbarin won the top prizes. The highlight of the week was the bus tour to Mt. Tiede. Several members of the group took the cable car to the top of the mountain where we had a beautiful but very cold view of the island. This mountain is the center of the volcano that formed the island of Tenerife. Half way down the mountain, the group stopped at a picnic ground. Graham and Jan had prepared a wonderful meal for us to barbecue and enjoy.
The week flew by all too quickly. Everyone had a wonderful time, and some of the group continued their vacation by travelling to various places in Europe.
