Radville -
On February 12, 13 and 14 the S.E. 4-H Regional Junior Champions cosisting of Lane Carles - skip, Dustin Meyers - third, Sadie Anwender - second, Austen Carles - lead and Macy Liebreich - spare, competed in the 4-H Provincial curling bonspiel in Foam Lake.
Going for Gold was the motto with the Olympics as the theme for the action packed weekend. All 18 teams had to repesent a country, we selected France.
The opening ceremonies were held Friday afternoon after the first 2 draws. The teams/countries were led out onto the ice by bagpippers, an RCMP member and the colour guards which were members of the Foam Lake Air Cadets. They were welcomed by Bob Johnson, mayor of Foam Lake and Jackie Medvid, the N.E. 4-H specialist.
The rest of the very entertaining weekend was spent either curling or competing in Olympic events. The Radville team curled 5 games and advanced to the quarter finals Sunday morning but were unfortunately out curled by the N.E. team from RiverView.
Although they did not get gold they had an excellent weekend, lots of laughs, met alot of new friends and fellow 4-H members and now have some great memories.
We want to say a Huge THANK YOU to E Bourassa & Sons Ltd. for our team jackets - they look GREAT!!!!
